Graduate film" Ticket to Australia" - a humerous portrait of a hustler familiy bringing up the existential question: What is a good life? Sold and broadcast on DR TV. (The Danish Broadcast Corporation)

The main shots from "Ticket to Australia"; a close up of Carsten and a two-shot of his parents. (All of them nonstop smoking) 42-year old Carsten Islington's stories from his life is interwoven with statements from his parents - commenting on his life.

Quote from the film:
Carsten:
"I wanted to drive to the Sahara desert to get some work on those oil companies down there. So I bought a cheap mountain bike and just went of."
Mother: "...yeah, and then he called from a phonebox from Roskildevej (10 k's from his starting point) and said the bike was broke. "Oh God", I thought, he is never gonna make it to Africaa...."

But Carsten made it - even he had no official papers on the bike. He had painted the numberplates himself, and when the boarder police between France and Algier wanted documents for the bike, he gave them his birthcertificate. When they asked who the other names on the document were, Carsten explained that it was the people who were insured to ride on the back of the bike. The boarder guard stamped all over his birthcertificate and Carsten continued his drive to the oil company in the desert of Sahara. When he finally arrived, they were just packing and leaving for the season ...
